YOUR RATES IN THE COMMUNITY

The Cassowary Coast is a hub of community activity with our Events team working hard to bring over 25 events within the last year, including Morning Melodies, Citizenship Ceremonies, RADF funded events and the well-loved Tilapia Tournament. This does not take into consideration the variety of events Council provides in-kind support to or the variety of big-ticket events including TARGA and Red Bull Defiance.

Bringing music, arts and cultural events to the Cassowary Coast allows our community to feel more connected and engaged.

Council allocates your rates dollars to a variety of services and projects and with every $100, Council allocates $3 to Community Relations and Services including events held in the region.

For more information about where your dollars are at work in the region please visit, https://bit.ly/3oX1A8l

MARINE RATES IN THE COMMUNITY

The Cassowary Coast is a community who spends much of their time appreciating the amazing waterways and local reefs out on the water.

Council services multiple boat ramps and jetties across six locations, as well as pontoons and floating walkways, seawalls and a harbour.

Council allocates your rates dollars to a variety of services and projects and with every $100, Council allocates $2 to maintain Marine and Boating Facilities and keep our region out on the water.

WE LOVE OUR CASSOWARRY COAST

Across February we have asked the community to highlight why ‘We love our Cassowary Coast.”

Ranked fifth in the ‘Most Beautiful Village’ list, our very own Mission Beach on the Cassowary Coast was the only Australian beach to top the list.

Sitting next to dream destination spots from Greece, Vietnam, Austria and Turkey, Mission Beach was selected due to the overwhelming number of social media posts tagging the local destination categorising it as a bucket list spot for travel.

Just another reason why we LOVE our Cassowary Coast.

Share your photos and videos with us about why you love the Cassowary Coast and tag:

4 REASONS TO TAKE THE LEAD

Your dog is more like a family member than a pet, and that’s why being safe and healthy is very important.

Exercising your four legged friend with a walk or run is one sure way to keep them healthy and to make sure they are safe, you must always have them secured on a lead.

Here are some reasons why you must always keep your dog secure on a lead while out in public places (including beaches).

1. Moving vehicles, it’s devastating when a dog gets hit by a car. Keep your dog safe from the risk of running in the path of a car, train or other moving vehicle.

2. Wildlife, it is natural instinct for dogs to chase after other animals. To protect your pet from getting lost and being injured and protect our native wildlife from dog attacks, take the lead.

3. Bait poisoning, no doubt your dog loves food and will happily chew on anything they’re offered or find. By keeping your dog on a lead you can prevent the likelihood of your furry best friend from eating poisoned bait and getting a tummy bug or worse.

4. Fines, in Queensland it is the law to keep your dog securely on a lead while out in public. Keeping your dog on a lead will prevent an on the spot fine of $275.

For more information of how to be an awesome dog owner, download your copy of the Good Dog Owners Guide from our website or pick up a brochure from your local Customer Service Centre or Library.
