Cayla's Court December 4 2020
The WNBL action is heating up as this week’s Cayla’s Court takes a look at what fans can expect now we’ve reached the pointy end of the season. We are sure to see some exciting matches this weekend as round four wraps up and round five kicks off.
Personally, I am super excited to be home with my Boomers girls as we play our first Cairns games of the season. We’ve got four matches at Cairns Pop-Up Arena over the coming week so I am really looking forward being on home turf.
With finals just around the corner we are seeing clear leaders emerge. At this stage, I think fans can expect to see a top three line-up that includes the Boomers, Southside and Capitals with Adelaide and Townsville battling it out for fourth spot.
As a league, this week we are using our platform to shine the light on mental health and suicide prevention, renaming the entire round to be the “Lifeline Round” to drive awareness and donations to support their counselling services. Remember if you or someone you know is struggling call Lifeline on 13 11 14.
The matches to look out for over the coming week include:
Sun December 6
2.00pm Cairns: Boomers vs Southside: We had a win against them earlier in the season and no doubt they will come out with a point to prove against us. They are the best team in the league.
5pm Townsville: Townsville vs Capitals: The Capitals beat Townsville when they matched up at the start of the season so I think Townsville will be looking to turn that around and cement a finals spot.
Tues December 8
7.30pm Townsville: Perth vs Sydney Uni: These two teams have just missed out on some close games this season so both will be looking to score that win. They are very similar so will match up well against each other.
Thurs December 10
6pm Townsville: Perth vs Capitals: Perth almost pipped the Caps in their last game so I think they might be on the lookout for a bit of redemption after only losing by three in the dying minutes.
