Celebrate Japanese culture on Saturday

THE Cairns Japan Bon Dance Festival returns to the Esplanade’s western event lawn on Saturday (August 12) between 12pm and 8.30pm.

The festival will feature a variety of live performances, Japanese food and drinks, bon dancing, family activities, fireworks and much more. 

The Japanese Society of Cairns together with co-organisers, The Consular Office of Japan in Cairns, encourage everyone to attend the free event. 

Join in the festivities to enjoy a Mochitsuki demonstration, taiko drumming and to try your luck in the ever-popular mega raffle.

Come and participate in the colourful and vibrant bon dance and stay on for the fireworks display at 8pm.

It is a celebration of Cairns and Japan’s longstanding ties.
