Free CPR training

Mossman Support Services have also provided two free training opportunities for their volunteers this month.

The community kitchen volunteers sat a two day food hygiene and safe practices qualification with Kelly Walker of Far North Training and Consultancy.

The group had one day of theory practice and one day of practical application, learning all of the requirements and safety procedures to ensure the food they prepare, for our community lunch, is healthy and made with the most care.

To prove their skills, the group worked as a team to make fruit smoothies, chicken caesar salad and homemade dressing. Apparently, it was delicious.

They were also very pleased to have Kelly donate her time to the program participants and volunteers, teaching them what to do in the case of an emergency. Kelly and her husband ran the group through CPR procedures and taught them how to use our new AED/Defibrillator, which was recently installed onsite following a successful grant from Salsa Sorenson Foundation.
