Ghosts on stage
RAIN didn’t dampen the spirits of the Ghosts of Gordonvale.

The organisers were determined the “show must go on,” so the event was re-located from the cemetery to the stadium at Gordonvale High School.
An audience of 70 people appreciated the dryer conditions and enjoyed the sixth presentation of Ghosts of Gordonvale by members of the Mulgrave Shire Historical Society.
This year seven ghosts were presented, all in period costume along with relevant stage props, adding to the atmosphere.
David Cannon presented the story of his Great Uncle, John Buchanan. Other ghosts were: Anne Gwynne, Cecil Vaughan, Henry Lambert, Sarah Ann Boyle, and Dorinda Collinson.
Charles Spencer’s grandson, Robert Spencer, brought 11 relatives up from NSW to see their ancestor presented by Kevin Murgatroyd.
The society would like to thank Gordonvale High School Acting Principal Davida Laney and Business Manager Sharlene Brosseuk for their assistance in allowing them to use the school stadium at such short notice. Also, to Teacher Aide, Wendy Creek for opening and closing the stadium for them.
Members of the MSHS hope to return to the Gordonvale cemetery in 2023 for the next presentation of more of local pioneers.
