Ms Dent said she had been a club member for 10 years.

“I’ve also had the honour of being a corporate partner for the previous eight years and on the board for a little over two years,” she said.

“Taking on the position of president is not a decision I made lightly as it comes with great responsibility.

“I am very passionate about the club and thrilled to have the support of the community.”

The new board also includes vicepresident Kim Siegmann, vice-president and partnerships Sarah Debono, secretary Jenni Kingsbury, treasurer Paula Cotterill, and general board members Claire Howells (events), Megan Macallister (governance), Jodie Ferrero (marketing) and Mel Murphy (membership).

“The club has a solid financial standing with the figures improving on the previous year.

“We are grateful to be in this position and thank the previous board for all their hard work to place the club in this light,” Ms Dent said.

“The 2023 board intends to continue the great work of the previous board and work diligently with our members ensuring our values are always met,” she said.

“Last year a lot of time and energy was put into creating a strategic plan for the club and we will continue to action it.

“The club continues to support local women in the community. Recently, we presented a scholarship to a recipient at the Far North Queensland Youth Assistance Fund ceremony.”

Ms Dent said the club’s next event was for International Women’s Day on Friday, March 10, at the Hilton Hotel.

“It’s a day to celebrate women’s achievements and both highlight and work to address barriers that continue to perpetuate gender inequality. Every person attending the lunch will receive an IWD purple ribbon,” she said.

“We are delighted that AusMumpreneur co-founders Peace Mitchell and Katy Garner will be the guest speakers at the lunch.

“These ladies have an impressive list of achievements and haven’t let being from Innisfail stand in the way of creating successful businesses.

“Peace and Katy will be sharing the lessons they’ve learnt as women growing a global business from north Queensland.

“They are passionate about gender equality and supporting women and girls to reach their full potential and create the life they want to live.

“They have helped thousands of women across Australia and internationally achieve their dream of running a successful and profitable business.

“As keen supporters of women’s issues, we are pleased to be hosting this event and grateful to have the support of IFYS Foster Care and Freedom Planning as event partners.

“It is certainly an event not to be missed.”
