Miallo SS welcomes back their students
STAFF at Miallo are super excited to welcome our students back next week.
We aim to get straight into learning and keep school life as normal as possible.
With all of the uncertainty outside of school, we feel it’s important that school is a student’s safe place to learn, connect and feel a strong sense of belonging.
Relationships are integral to us. We are a family-orientated school where every staff member is able to know every child, and we encourage parents to play an integral role in their child’s education. We have wonderful parent volunteers and a proactive P&C committee.
While our performance data is excellent and we believe literacy and numeracy is integral, we also place a strong emphasis on student well-being, the arts and offering a range of opportunities for students. Some of these include weekly electives for the older students (woodwork is always popular!), learning a second language from Prep, and Band, Choir and String Ensemble.
Students showcase their talents at our M Factor talent quest and annual Art Show and there are a range of sporting opportunities for students to shine locally and further afield. Our annual artist or scientist-in-residence program is also a hit with students, staff and parents alike.
At the end of last year, Queensland’s School Improvement Unit nominated Miallo as one of the ‘bright spot’ schools in the State, and have asked to return this year to document our journey.
This was a wonderful accolade for our school and we are looking forward to exploring other ways we can innovate this year.
We love our school and our Miallo family. While it may not be the school start we envisaged, best wishes all of the students in our cluster a wonderful school year in 2022!
