New Div. 8 council candidate
THE 2023 Cairns Woman of the Year and women’s support group founder Jo Piggott (right) has announced her candidacy for Cairns Regional Council division 8 as a part of Team Eden pledging to serve the community.
An active community member, small business owner and founder of the women’s walk and talk group ‘Your Tribe’, Ms Piggott has decided to contest division 8 as part of mayoral candidate Amy Eden’s team at next year’s local election with the goal of bringing more transparency and community engagement.
“The thriving and inclusive community here in Division 8 has inspired me to become a dedicated voice for my local area. Whether it’s ensuring community well-being, fostering growth, or connecting with people, I’m eager to contribute in every way I can,” she said.
“If elected, I intend to work hard, remain engaged, and ensure the community of Division 8 feels heard, connected, and happy.” Other candidates are Cr Rhonda Coghlan (Unity Team) and former magistrate Pat O’Shane (independent).
