New mayor for Yarrabah on the cards
DARYL Sexton is pushing ahead as the new mayor of Yarrabah Shire Council.

He held 41.5 per cent per cent of votes (408) after 60 per cent of ballots were counted (total enrolment 1662) as at 11am today.
Incumbent Ross Andrews was in second place at 30.42 per cent (299) and Percy (Nulsa) Neal had about 28 per cent (276).
It’s a competitive field of 16 for the four councillor positions.
In front is incumbent Hezron (Hezzy) Murgha with 10.24 per cent (389), followed by Michael T (Lanky) Sands 9.61 per cent (365), incumbent Brian Underwood 9.51 per cent (361), Amy Neal 9.06 per cent (344), incumbent Lucresia (Lulu) Willett 8.4 per cent (319), Branton Keyes 6.56 per cent (249) and Michael Canendo 6.32 per cent (240).
